US President signs executive order to cut fentanyl-related tariffs on Chinese goods
(VOVWORLD) - US President Donald Trump on Tuesday signed an executive order cutting fentanyl-related tariffs on Chinese goods, formalizing part of the agreement he reached with Chinese President Xi Jinping after their first face-to-face meeting in South Korea last week.

Following the meeting, Beijing pledged to strengthen controls on the export of precursor chemicals used to produce fentanyl bound for the US. In response, Washington agreed to reduce its 20% added tariff to 10%, effective November 10. The executive order signed on Tuesday puts the agreement into effect, and stipulates that US officials will monitor China's implementation of its commitment.
According to the White House, the two leaders reached other agreements, including extending the suspension of retaliatory tariffs until November of next year.
