The US Senate voted overwhelmingly on Thursday in favor of a sanctions package targeting Russia, Iran and North Korea. The vote, 98 to 2, passed the most significant foreign policy bill since President Trump took office. If Trump, who has said he wants to improve ties with Russia, chooses to veto the bill, it is expected to have sufficient support to override his veto. Russian President Vladimir Putin has threatened retaliation against the legislation.
