This year’s challenge centers on the ViGen project, which aims to develop a comprehensive ecosystem that includes high-quality open-source Vietnamese datasets for training and evaluating AI models that understand the Vietnamese language and can serve all needs, from everyday communications to complex specialized applications.

The national project is jointly implemented by Meta Corporation, the National Innovation Center (NIC), and the AI for Vietnam Foundation.

NIC Deputy Director Vo Xuan Hoai said that this project is very important - building an open-source Vietnamese dataset to serve AI research, development and application.

“Currently, the rate of application of Vietnamese datasets for AI development remains quite low. Therefore, this will be the foundation for Vietnam to catch up with other countries in technology development in the future. Once Vietnam  has such kind of Vietnamese dataset, it’ll serve not only businesses, but also Vietnamese government agencies in their daily work,” said Hoai.

On this occasion, Meta, in collaboration with Deloitte, has introduced a handbook of best practices for open-source AI adoption that examines real-world Llama use cases across critical public sector domains, including citizen engagement, government administration, regulatory compliance, education, healthcare, and public safety.
