Vietnam Airlines commemorates 30 years of opening direct flight to South Korea

(VOVWORLD) - Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh emphasised that after establishing diplomatic relations for more than three decades, the bilateral relationship between Vietnam and the Republic of Korea is now at its best and the two countries have become each other’s comprehensive strategic partners.

At a ceremony on Wednesday in Seoul to mark 30th anniversary of the direct flight and welcome the fifteen millionth passenger between Vietnam and the RoK, Mr. Chinh said the two countries continuously have exchanges high-level delegation.

Currently, the RoK holds the prime position in direct investment in Vietnam, and is second in terms of development cooperation and tourism, and third in labour and trade cooperation. There are about 300,000 Vietnamese people working, studying and living in the RoK, while the Korean community in Vietnam numbers around 200,000.

Therefore, travel between the two countries is increasing and aviation plays an important role in connecting the two countries. The Prime Minister asked Vietnam Airlines in particular, and the aviation industry in general, to continuously improve service quality, reduce prices, restructure the management and human resources to enhance competitiveness in the international market.

At the event, Vietnam Airlines and Korean Air Airlines (Korean Air) signed a cooperation agreement on strengthening and improving the quality of aviation service in Vietnam and the RoK. Vietnam Airlines also gave gifts to a Korean passenger as Vietnam Airlines' 15 millionth passenger on the Vietnam - Korea route.

After 30 years since opening, Vietnam Airlines is currently operating 6 direct flights: Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City – Seoul; Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City - Busan; Da Nang - Seoul and Cam Ranh - Seoul, with an average frequency of up to 112 flights per week.
