Vietnam and Cambodia strengthen relations

Vietnamese and Cambodian State government leaders attended the inauguration ceremony of the Memorial Site dedicated to the Vietnamese and Cambodian soldiers who have laid their lives during the resistance movement for the national liberation. Cambodian Premier Hun Sen recalled the difficulties and challenges during the first days the Fighting Unit 125 was established. On December 2, 1978, the United Front of Salvation of Kampuchean Motherland was founded in an effort to abolish the Pol Pot genocidal regime.
Addressing the event, Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung said that the victory of Spring 1979 demonstrated joint strength of the two armies and peoples, opening a new phase of development for Cambodia.“We are glad to see tremendous success both countries have recorded over the past 33 years during the national construction and development. Bilateral relations between the two countries have been strengthened. Vietnam is strongly confident that under the leadership of Prime Minister Hun Sen, Cambodia will continue to reap further success, contributing to strengthening peace and security in the region and the world,” said the Prime Minister.
