Vietnam, ASEAN unite for safer, more resilient future

(VOVWORLD) - A safer future for Vietnam and the ASEAN community will be built in a spirit of solidarity, creativity, and pioneering, said Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Environment Nguyen Hoang Hiep at a ceremony in Hanoi on Monday to mark International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction and ASEAN Day for Disaster Management 2025.

The ceremony reviewed the outcomes of disaster prevention and response activities carried out by the Disaster Risk Reduction Partnership (DRRP). In 2024, following Typhoon Yagi, 31 international agencies and organizations joined hands to support Vietnam. The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development received from partners 220 tons of relief goods worth 2.3 million USD.

Four consecutive storms have caused severe damage across Vietnam’s northern and central provinces this year. In response, foreign organizations, governments, and partners have worked closely with the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment to conduct rapid needs assessments, provide emergency relief, and help affected communities quickly stabilize their lives after each disaster.
