At the virtual Forum of Young Parliamentarians, part of the 142nd Inter-Parliamentary Union Assembly, on Monday, Sy, who is also Vice Chairman of the NA’s Young Parliamentarians Group, said that last year the Vietnamese NA adopted the revised Youth Law stipulating the rights and interests of young people, as well as State policies and management in the field.

Vietnam encourages young deputies to participate in NA activities, he said. In 2015, the NA Standing Committee issued a Resolution on the establishment of a Young Parliamentarians’ Group. Young Vietnamese lawmakers discussed policy impacts on youths and joined the NA’s delegations overseeing the implementation of policies affecting youths.

Of the 867 candidates for the 15th NA, 224 (about 26%) are under 40, Sy said.
