(VOVworld)- The 9th General Assembly of the International Conference of Asian Political Parties (ICAPP) was held in Kuala Lumpur from September 1 to 4. 300 delegates of 89 parties from 35 Asian countries and international delegations attended the event.

Hoang Binh Quan, Head of the Commission for External Relations of the Party Central Committee led the delegation of the Communist Party of Vietnam to the General Assembly. In his speech at the plenary session, Quan said as Asia is facing security and development challenges, parties should raise their sense of responsibility in maintaining peace, stability, and prosperity in the region and the world, resolving territorial disputes by peaceful means in line with international law in accordance with diplomatic and legal procedures, and advocating effective mechanisms to prevent conflicts.  

He stressed the need to improve cooperation for equal and sustainable development, strengthen economic and infrastructure connectivity, narrow development gaps, protect the environment, respond to climate change, and enhance people-to-people exchange with respect to diversification and cultural, political, and social differences.

The Vietnamese delegation held a number of meetings with parties to enhance bilateral relations and cooperation in regional and international issues.
