(VOVworld)- The Vietnamese Embassy in Canada on Tuesday held a meeting to mark the 40th anniversary of Vietnamese- Canadian diplomatic ties. Canadian Parliamentary Secretary to the Foreign Minister Deepak Obhrai praised the development of bilateral ties at all levels ranging from the state to enterprises and people with the increase of exchanges of visits between the two countries’ leaders. The Canadian Secretary said that two-way trade turnover between Vietnam and Canada reached nearly 2 billion USD in 2012. Vietnamese Ambassador to Canada To Anh Dung highly appreciated the development of bilateral ties saying that it was time for both sides to look towards a stable, long-term and comprehensive partnership on mutual and multi-lateral contexts with the more than 200,000 Vietnamese people residing in Canada serving as a link. Mr. Dung urged the two countries to further bilateral co-operation as Canada treasures co-operation with the Asia-Pacific region. He expressed his thanks for Canadian people’s support for Vietnam in national construction and development. Dung said that the Vietnamese Embassy and General Consulate in Canada were ready to work closely with related Canadian agencies to further bilateral friendship and co-operation.
