The daily Juventud Rebelde (Youthful Rebellion) described the victory on April 30, 1975 as a “brilliant epic” and said President Ho Chi Minh’s aspiration “Vietnam is one, the Vietnamese people are one” had come true on that day. In the article “Vietnam is a shining example for revolutionaries and fighting peoples around the world”, the Granma, the mouthpiece of the Communist Party of Cuba, affirmed that Vietnam’s victory was the driving force for the global national liberation movement. The wise leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam and the strength of great national unity were the keys to success, it said.

Japan’s Nikkei Asia article said Vietnam's To Lam stresses reform 50 years on.  In his speech at the celebration, General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam To Lam called on the Vietnamese people to promote the spirit of the 1975 great victory and the values and victories of the past 40 years under the reform period to reap greater successes.

The great victory of April 30, 1975 is one of the most brilliant milestones in the history of the Vietnamese people's national construction and defense, Argentina's Reporte Asia commented. It said the April 30 victory is a symbol of solidarity, heroic fighting spirit, a shining testament to Vietnamese revolutionary heroism, the pinnacle of the spirit and intelligence of the Vietnamese people, and the greatest achievement of the cause of national liberation and social liberation led by the Communist Party of Vietnam and President Ho Chi Minh.

The Australian press reported on thousands of Vietnamese troops, police and civilians parading to mark the unification day.  The Australian and ABC News described in detail the ceremony, the street decorations, and crowds of people happily taking to the streets to watch the parade and celebrate the big day.

“We will have to respect the past and respect differences… we are desperate to build a future for peace, (and) do everything we can do so the future generation can have a better world," ABC News quoted Vietnam Communist Party General Secretary To Lam as saying at the parade.

Mundo Obrero of the Spanish Communist Party (PCE) on Wednesday published an article highlighting historical milestones and praising Vietnam's achievements over the past half a decade. The victory on April 30, 1975 ended decades of struggle by the Vietnamese people against hostile forces and foreign invaders, it said, adding this victory not only reshaped the geopolitical map but also inspired anti-colonial movements around the world.

Vietnam today is a key player in Asia with a sustainable economic growth rate. Vietnam pursues a balanced foreign policy, including developing relations with the United States, according to Mundo Obrero.
