(VOVworld) – Vietnam and China on Wednesday concluded the first round of expert-level negotiations on cooperation in less sensitive maritime issues in Beijing, China.  

There is a common understanding between Vietnam and China’s leaders to sticks to the agreement on the settlement of maritime related issues between Vietnam and China signed last October. They discussed cooperating to protect the maritime environmental, marine scientific research, search and rescue operations and dealing with the impacts of natural disasters. Both agreed on cooperation in principle, while respecting each other’s interests and position. The two countries agreed to hold the 2^nd round of the negotiations to be held in Vietnam later on this year.
