(VOV) - Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong on Thursday phoned his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping, exchanging views on Vietnam-China relations.

Trong once again congratulated Xi on his election as President of China and believed Chinese people, under the leadership of the Chinese Party and State led by Xi will make greater achievements in its open door process toward building a moderately prosperous society and socialism with Chinese characteristics. Xi confirmed that the Party, State and people of China attach great importance to relations with Vietnam, and are willing to work closely with their Vietnamese counterparts to develop bilateral  strategic comprehensive cooperation partnership. The two leaders exchanged views on a number of measures to further develop the Vietnam-China partnership in the near future.
