The spokeswoman said: “Vietnam is deeply concerned about the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea’s continued intercontinental ballistic missile test on November 29, which seriously violated relevant UN Security Council resolutions and increased tension in the region. Vietnam consistently supports all efforts to promote dialogue and maintain peace, stability on the Korean peninsula and calls on all involved parties to strictly abide by UN Security Council resolutions and take constructive actions to contribute to maintaining peace and stability in the region and the world as well as for public interest.”

Regarding the EU’s possible membership to the East Asia Summit, the spokeswoman praised the EU’s further commitment to foster cooperation with the ASEAN and expected more practical contributions from the grouping to ASEAN’s mechanisms for cooperation, development, peace, and stability. She said Vietnam will actively work with other countries to consider the EU’s admission to EAS on the basis of ASEAN consensus.

Ms. Hang also told reporters that the Vietnamese Embassy in Indonesia has instructed 60 Vietnamese tourists to leave Bali safely after the volcanic eruption of Mount Agung.
