Vietnam considers the US a partner of strategic importance

(VOVWORLD) - Vietnam always regards the US as a partner of strategic importance, Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee and Chairman of the Party Central Committee’s Commission for Communication and Education Nguyen Trong Nghia said at a reception on Wednesday in Hanoi for US Ambassador to Vietnam Marc Knapper.

Mr. Nghia expressed his gratitude to President Joe Biden, Secretary of State Antony Blinken, the Ambassador, officials of the US Embassy and Consulate General in Vietnam, and US agencies, organizations, and people for sending their condolences on the passing of late Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong.

Emphasizing some breakthrough achievements in cooperation in trade, investment, culture, education, training, people-to-people exchanges, science, technology, and innovation, Nghia suggested that the US continue to support Vietnam in training high-quality human resources in semiconductors, offer favorable conditions for cooperation between universities, technology institutes, and commercial organizations in the two countries, including the Vietnam National Innovation Center.

Ambassador Knapper said agencies, ministries and sectors in the two countries are closely coordinating to carry out the Joint Statement of their senior leaders upgrading the relationship to a comprehensive strategic partnership.

The two sides agreed that 2025 will be a year of great significance, marking the 50th anniversary of Vietnam's national reunification and the 30th anniversary of Vietnam-US normalization of relations. It will be an opportunity to jointly recognize the great strides that have been made and are being made toward the future.
