(VOVWORLD) - Vietnam considers the US one of its most important partners, President Luong Cuong said at a meeting with Lieutenant Governor of Washington state Denny Heck in Seattle on Sunday during a working trip to attend the General Debate of the 80th session of the UN General Assembly (UNGA 80).

President Cuong said Vietnam is the fifth-largest export market of Washington state, a leading economic and trade hub. He suggested the two sides maintain momentum by stepping up delegation exchanges and meetings at all levels; facilitate trade and investment activities; and promote cooperation in science, technology, artificial intelligence, logistics, clean energy, and deep-water ports.
Lieutenant Governor Heck congratulated Vietnam on its socio-economic development achievements and said Washington considers Vietnam a priority partner. He noted his state exports millions of dollars worth of agricultural products to Vietnam, helping to balance trade between the two countries.
Mr. Heck emphasized Washington’s readiness to work with Vietnamese partners to deepen government-business connections, promote two-way trade and investment, enhance cooperation in green logistics and supply chain development, and foster human resources development and innovation.
He pledged a favorable environment for the Vietnamese community in Washington. The same day, President Luong Cuong met with Stephanie Pope, President and CEO of Boeing and attended an aircraft handover ceremony between Boeing and Vietjet Air at Boeing’s factory in Seattle.
