Vietnam, Cuba foster long-standing traditional friendship

(VOVWORLD) - It is rare to see in world history such a relationship like the one between Vietnam and Cuba, which was nurtured over many decades by revolutionary leaders such as José Martí, Ho Chi Minh, Fidel Castro, and generations of leaders from both countries, said Party General Secretary and President To Lam.

This pure, exemplary, and loyal relatioship has become a symbol of the era, Mr. Lam said during a meet and greet with representatives of friendship associations and youths of Cuba on  Friday in the capital city of Havana. Also in attendance was First Secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC) Central Committee and President of Cuba Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermudez. 

The Vietnamese top leader proposed more exchanges between social-political organizations, people, and localities of the two countries, contributing to enhancing solidarity and mutual understanding.

The two sides have agreed to designate 2025, which marks the 65th anniversary of bilateral diplomatic relations, as Vietnam-Cuba Friendship Year.

“I hope that the young generations of the two countries will continue to cherish, preserve, deepen, and strengthen our special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation, contributing to the cause of national construction and defense of each country,” said Mr. Lam.

As part of his state visit to Cuba, Party General Secretary and State President To Lam laid a wreath at the monument of President Ho Chi Minh in Havana.
