The visit aims to strengthen diplomatic relations, reinforce friendship and cooperation, and promote trade and investment opportunities between the two countries.
The Joint Statement emphasised the importance of Mr. Chinh's visit as the first official visit by a Vietnamese Prime Minister to the Dominican Republic, and a milestone in the growing ties between the two nations. The two leaders pledged to continue a high-level dialogue to guide the development of bilateral relations.
The two emphasized the potential for cooperation in trade, manufacturing, investment, agriculture, energy, telecommunications, digital transformation, construction, education, training, culture, and tourism, and agreed on the importance of enhancing trade and investment promotion and business connections, facilitating access to each other's markets, and serving as gateways to the Southeast Asian and Caribbean markets.
They expressed their intention to start negotiations on more bilateral agreements, and start an intersectoral consultation process for negotiating an investment promotion and protection agreement.
The two leaders affirmed their commitment to multilateralism, cooperation, and mutual support in international organisations and multilateral forums like the United Nations, the World Trade Organisation, the South-South cooperation framework, and the Forum for East Asia-Latin America Cooperation (FEALAC).
