Vietnam enhances cooperation with “Belt and Road Initiative” partners

(VOVWORLD) - Vietnam and China have reached a common view on major measures to reinforce political trust, friendly relations, and cooperation, Deputy Foreign Minister Le Hoai Trung told the press following President Tran Dai Quang’s recent state visit to China and participation in the Belt and Road Initiative in Beijing.

Mr. Trung said Vietnam and China have committed to strengthen current cooperative mechanisms in diplomacy, national defense, security, law enforcement, and people to people exchange. Both countries reached a consensus on increasing coordination and applying efficient measures to mutually support cooperation in agriculture, economics-trade, investment, infrastructure, finance and monetary issues in a stable, healthy and sustainable fashion. They agreed to continue implementing comprehensively and efficiently the Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the East Sea (DOC) and soon build a Code of Conduct in the East Sea (COC) on the basis of consultation and unity, well manage disputes at sea, take no action that could complicate and expand disputes, and maintain peace and stability in the East Sea.

On the sideline of the forum on the Belt and Road Initiative in Beijing, President Tran Dai Quang held bilateral meetings with leaders of Laos, Russia, Belarus, Chile, Italy, and Argentina, and Myanmar State Councilor Aung San Suu Kyi.
