(VOV) - A Vietnamese official says Vietnam has effectively used resources and followed exemplary projects of the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD).  Deputy Minister of Finance Truong Chi Trung made the statement at a meeting with IFAD President Kanayo F. Nwanze on the sidelines of the 35th session of IFAD Governing Council in Rome, Italy over the past 2 days. Trung briefed President Nwanze on Vietnam’s recent poverty reduction achievements in with support from IFAD. He expressed hope that the IFAD will soon approve and get its projects off the ground in the country. Trung also asked the fund to have proper adjustments for newly middle-income countries like Vietnam to borrow loans. Nwanze praised Vietnam’s agricultural achievements and promised to closely cooperate with Vietnam in the field of agriculture and rural development. Since joining the IFAD in 1997, Vietnam has contributed more than US$1 million to the fund and received around US$260 million as well as technical support.
