Globally, Vietnam’s ranking in SDG implementation rose from 88th out of 149 countries in 2016 to 54th out of 166 in 2024. Vietnam scored 73.32 in the SDG index in 2024, surpassing the global average and ranking second in Southeast Asia, according to the Ministry’s report.

However, challenges remain as Vietnam is on track to meet only 34% of 105 goals by 2030.

“Apart from Government efforts, it is necessary to mobilize resources from and the direct engagement of businesses, social organizations, and the people in implementing SDGs. The system of reporting, monitoring, and evaluating SDG implementation should also improve and be consistent,” said Nguyen Thi Thanh Nga from the Ministry of Planning and Investment.
