Experts say that as while Vietnam’s WTO accession affects trade, mechanisms and services, regional and bilateral free trade agreements create trade pressure by reducing import taxes within the ASEAN bloc to 0% by 2018 at the latest. Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade: Nguyen Thanh Bien spoke at the event: "For the next 5 years, we’ll enjoy preferential taxes and open market policies from partners of ASEAN + who signed free trade agreements with the bloc. This is both an opportunity and a challenge for us, because by the end of 2015, we have pledged to reduce taxes and open markets for ASEAN+ members and partners. In the next 4 years, we should take advantage of this to increase competitiveness of our businesses."
