The Ministry has approved a plan for international cooperation promotion in agriculture and rural development to 2030 with a vision to 2050, Minister Hoan said at the ceremony jointly held by his Ministry, the UN in Vietnam, and the UN’s Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) in Vietnam.

The plan will enable Vietnam to actively and responsibly engage in meeting the challenges of global agriculture and integrating agriculture into the global market, while mobilizing human resources, technology, and foreign investment to support the rapid and sustainable development of agriculture and rural areas, according to Mr. Hoan.

“We‘re ready to cooperate with international partners on trade, investment, technical assistance, science, technology, training, and communications, by diversifying partnerships, fostering relationships with all, and promoting effective international cooperation in agriculture,” he said.

Vietnam's agriculture and rural development sector needs to strengthen diplomatic efforts, and diplomacy can take advantage of the potential of agriculture and rural areas to spread the image of Vietnam to the world, the Minister noted.

At the ceremony, Vietnam and 45 partners signed the “Partnership Agreement for Transparent, Responsible, and Sustainable Food Systems Transformation in Vietnam” and launched a UN-Vietnam joint program called “Incubation of Innovations in Partnerships and Financing for Agrifood Systems Transformation in Vietnam.”
