Vietnam seeks to boost cooperative economy

(VOVWORLD) - Vietnam has 17,000 agricultural cooperatives, making up 4% of the national GDP and generating income for 30% of the population.

The State has issued incentives for cooperative to access loans, human resource training, trade promotion, marketing, and technological application.

Pham Minh Dien, deputy head of the Cooperative Policies and Development Department, of the Vietnam Cooperative Alliance, said, “It’s necessary to allocate budget for the cooperative economic sector in line with national targets. Policies and mechanisms on cooperative economy and cooperatives should match the market economy to promote self-reliance and responsibility of cooperative economic organizations.”
