With a 2-digit growth last year, industrial production weathered the COVID-19 storm to generate 670 billion USD, well above the export target. Vietnam made its way into the top 20 economies worldwide of international commerce.

The Ministry of Industry and Trade aims for over 8% of export growth and a trade surplus in 2022. Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hong Dien details on how to achieve them.

“The Ministry will resolutely implement the Government’s guidelines on safe adaptation to and flexible containment of the pandemic to resume supply chains of goods and labors for post-pandemic production recovery. The Ministry will work out the pros and cons of FDI attraction policies in industry and trade, enhance connection between foreign and domestic businesses, improve administration, transfer technology, and strengthen inter-sectoral links, which will help to further Vietnam’s business competitiveness and economic self-reliance,” said Mr. Dien.

He pledged to make information from the domestic and world markets widely available, especially in new, highly potential markets.
