(VOVworld) - A program to celebrate the 45th anniversary of Vietnam-Sweden diplomatic ties opened in Hanoi on Tuesday.

Swedish Ambassador to Vietnam Camilla Mellander affirmed that Sweden was the first Western country to establish diplomatic ties with Vietnam. She added that this has laid a firm foundation for a reliable partnership which brings benefits to both nations. Ambassador Camilla Mellander said that Sweden will continue to make contributions to Vietnam’s economic development by increasing trade, exchanging business ideas, and promoting technological transfer in healthcare and environmental protection. This year, the ambassador said, the Swedish embassy will work with Vietnam’s ministries and related sectors to organize at least one event each month in economics, trade, culture, art, or education to enhance bilateral cooperation.
