Vietnam treasures moral values of Buddhism
(VOVWORLD) -National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan hosted a banquet in Hanoi on Saturday night for leaders of countries, the UN, other international organizations, and Buddhist delegations and representatives of foreign embassies, who are attending the UN Vesak Day celebration in Vietnam.

Chairwoman Ngan said the annual celebration of Vesak Day provides an opportunity to honor Buddha and reflect on his teachings. She added her guests are ambassadors who are working together in the light of Buddhist ideology to settle global problems, making joint effort for common benefits and hoping for a peaceful, prosperous, and sustainable world. Chairwoman Ngan said: “On the threshold of the opening of the UN Vesak Day celebration, held for the third time in Vietnam, and in today’s friendly get-together, we continue to affirm that Vietnam always respects and supports the UN’s right choice of Vesak Day as a world religious festival. Vietnam always respects human rights, ensures freedom of religion and belief, and applauds ethical values of religions, including Buddhism, which has benefited society and contributed to national construction and defense.”
