Mr. Trong congratulated Russia on the 75th anniversary of its victory over fascism and praised Russia’s achievements under President Putin’s leadership.

The two leaders agreed bilateral cooperation has made remarkable progress. They called defense, security, and energy important pillars of their partnership and agreed to further tighten links in these fields.

Mr. Trong and Mr. Putin agreed to continue supporting and encouraging their countries’ oil and gas companies to take part in new projects in Vietnam and Russia, boost trade and investment partnerships, and leverage the free trade agreement between Vietnam and the Eurasian Economic Union, of which Russia is a member, to raise bilateral trade to 10 billion USD while hoping economies recover from the COVID-19 pandemic.

They applauded Vietnam-Russia cooperation at multilateral forums to promote peace, security, and international law.
