Vietnam, US strengthen post-war recovery cooperation

(VOVWORLD) - Vietnam and the US on Friday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enhance cooperation in addressing the consequences of war.

The signing ceremony was co-chaired by Deputy Minister of National Defense Hoang Xuan Chien and US Ambassador to Vietnam Marc Evans Knapper.

Lieutenant General Chien expressed his belief that the agreement will serve as a foundation for both countries to accelerate war legacy remediation efforts, contributing to the robust development of the Vietnam-US Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.

Ambassador Knapper affirmed that the US highly values Vietnam’s cooperation and contributions in addressing war legacies, particularly joint efforts to account for US personnel missing in action (MIA). He noted that post-war recovery cooperation continues to serve as a solid cornerstone of the growing bilateral relationship.
