Vietnam wants to boost ties with Indonesia

(VOVworld) – A visit to Vietnam by the Speaker of the People's Consultative Assembly of Indonesia, Sidarto Danusubroto, will strengthen ties between the two countries’ lawmakers, and promote their friendly, cooperative relations. During talks with Mr. Danusubroto in Hanoi on Monday, NA Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung praised Indonesia’s 6-point initiative on the East Sea, asking all parties in the region to abide by the signed agreements to ensure peace and security on land and sea. He expressed his hope that the two legislative bodies will continue to cooperate to improve connectivity among ASEAN members to complete the foundation of an ASEAN Community by 2015.

Danusubroto praised Vietnam’s socio-economic achievements in recent years despite a weak global economy. He said he believes Vietnam will continue to assert its position in the region and the world. The two leaders agreed to promote cooperation between their countries, especially in economics, culture, and education.
The same day, Chairman Hung hosted a banquet in Hanoi for Danusubroto and his delegation.
