(VOVworld) – The Vietnam National Administration of Tourism on Sunday held a ceremony to welcome the 10 millionth foreign visitor to Vietnam in 2016 at Phu Quoc International airport.

The 10 millionth visitor was Mr. Michael Tonge from the UK. The event marked an important milestone in Vietnam’s tourism sector. In 2016, the number of foreign visitors to Vietnam increased more than 20%. Vietnam is becoming a popular destination in the Asia-Pacific region. 

Vietnam’s tourism sector’s 2017 goals are to receive 11.5 million foreign visitors and 66 million domestic tourists, reap revenues of 20 billion USD, and become a spearhead economic sector by 2020.
