Vietnam will lack 400,000 IT personnel by 2020: Hanoi forum

(VOVWORLD) -Vietnam will lack some 400,000 IT personnel by 2020, reported a forum on ICT high quality human resources and connectivity of tertiary educational institutions and businesses. 

At the event organized in Hanoi on Saturday by the Ministry of Education and Training and the Ministry of Information and Communications, experts said that each year Vietnam will need 78,000 IT personnel. Delegates suggested that universities and businesses work together in training and  creating an environment for internship and scientific research to ensure that their graduates will meet the demands of businesses.

Minister of Education and Training Phung Xuan Nha said: “The new mechanism will increase practice to create the cooperative relations between universities and companies like between the university of medicine and a hospital. Both teachers and students should be closer to the practical environment.  Businesses should consider universities or students their assets.  By doing so, both sides will come closer to each other, rather than giving out scholarships and internships.”

On the sidelines of the forum, there is an exhibition on ICT human resources attended by 15 universities and 10 businesses.
