Vietnamese commemorate Hung Kings, legendary founders of nation

(VOVWORLD) -Today, the 10th day of the 3rd lunar month of the year of the snake, is the death anniversary of the Hung Kings who were perceived as the founders of the Viet civilization.

Cultural and sports activities are underway across the country to commemorate the ancestors. In the ancestral land of Phu Tho, where the Hung Kings' Temple historical relic is located, the Hung Kings' death anniversary and the Ancestral Land Culture and Tourism Week is taking place.

Incense is offered to worship national ancestor Lac Long Quan and Mother Au Co. There was performance Xoan singing, an intangible cultural heritage of humanity, Viet Tri swimming competition, Banh Chung (square sticky rice cake) and Banh Giay (round sticky rice cake) wrapping and cooking contest. At Hung Temple, cultural activities and traditional folk games are held every day, entertaining visitors with the festival atmosphere.

The Hung King's Commemoration Ceremony and flower offering at the relief "Uncle Ho talking to cadres and soldiers" are being held on Monday on Nghia Linh Mountain according to national cultural traditions.

In Can Tho City, thousands of people also joined the offering of 1.6-ton square sticky rice cake at Hung King Temple. This is one of the outstanding activities of the Southern Folk Cake Festival to commemorate the Hung King's death anniversary and the 50th anniversary of the liberation of the South and national reunification (April 30).
