(VOVWORLD) - The Permanent Mission of Vietnam to the UN, the World Trade Organization (WTO), and other international organizations in Geneva recently hosted a ceremony to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (September 2) at the headquarters of the World Intellectual Property Organization.

300 foreign and Vietnamese guests attended, including Ambassadors, Heads of Delegations, representatives of international organizations, and members of the Vietnamese community in Switzerland.
At the ceremony, Ambassador Mai Phan Dung said Vietnam is entering a new era of innovation, international integration, and green and digital transformation on its way to becoming a powerful, prosperous, and happy country by 2045. Vietnam is currently running for the UN Human Rights Council for the 2026-2028 term.
A highlight of the celebration was a cultural program with performances featuring traditional Vietnamese instruments such as the monochord, T'rung xylophone, and K'long Put wind instrument.
Attendees were introduced to Vietnamese culture and cuisine through Dong Ho paintings, egg coffee, salted coffee, lotus tea, traditional fine arts, áo dài and other silk garments, and a buffet of folk dishes.
Ho Chi Hong of the World Intellectual Property Organization, said the event was a great experience, especially the impressive venue, the food stalls, and the artwork on display.
The program included a performance in traditional ao dai, with the theme “Pride of Vietnam”, in 4 parts: “Dragon – Phoenix”, “River – Mountain”, “Spring Colors” and “Lotus”, performed by artists from the Vietnam Cultural Center in France, honoring the beauty, vitality and indomitable spirit of the Vietnamese people.
