Vietnamese lychee introduced to the world market

(VOVWORLD) - A forum called “Vietnamese lychees go global” took place in Hanoi on Thursday. Vietnam is famous for two lychee growing areas: Thanh Ha lychees in Hai Duong province and Luc Ngan lychees in Bac Giang province, which are available in 30 countries and territories.

Vietnamese lychees are expecting a bumper harvest this year, with an output of at least 320,000 tons. Bac Giang, Vietnam’s largest lychee production area (28,000 hectares) is expected to produce 180,000 tons. Hai Duong’s 9,000 hectares of lychees will produce another 60,000 tons, all grown in compliance with safe production standards.

Tran Van Quan, Deputy Chairman of the Hai Duong People’s Committee, said lychees usually ripen in a short period of time, from May to July, and produce a large volume.

“Thanks to experienced farm households and application of technology in production, tending and harvest, Thanh Ha produces lychees of sufficient quality to penetrate high-end markets around the world,” said Quan.

He added, “Hai Duong province is committed to facilitating administrative procedures, security, transportation, parking, and other services for businesses who come to Hai Duong to buy our lychee products.”

Phan The Tuan, Deputy Chairman of the Bac Giang People’s Committee, said, “Bac Giang province is beginning its 2022 lychee harvest. We’re optimizing conditions to produce and process high quality lychees. We look forward to continued support from ministries and international organizations in establishing connections, expanding our markets, and promoting our lychee exports.”

At the forum, a digital exhibit introduced Thanh Ha and Bac Giang lychees and other Vietnamese agricultural products.
