Vietnam-Hungary ties upgraded to comprehensive partnership

(VOVWORLD) - Vietnam and Hungary agreed to elevate their relationship to a comprehensive partnership during talks between Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban in Budapest on Monday.

Party leader Trong said Vietnam treasures the traditional friendship and comprehensive cooperation with Hungary, regarding it as a leading partner in central eastern Europe.

Prime Minister Orban said Hungary has been supporting Vietnam, which it considers a top partner in Southeast Asia. He described Mr. Trong’s visit as a new landmark in bilateral ties. Both sides agreed to maintain high-level visits, promote consultation and dialogue at all levels, boost cooperation in all areas, and share experience in culture preservation.

Prime Minister Orban praised the Vietnamese community’s position in Hungary while lauding their contributions, and pledged to ensure the best conditions for them.

The leaders witnessed the signing of a series of agreements on legal assistance, defense, healthcare, and education.
