Vietnam’s national football team to have new head coach from RoK

(VOVWORLD) - The contract signing ceremony and announcement of the new head coach of the national football team and U23 team will take place on Monday, the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) has announced.

Kim Sang-sik, a former coach of the Republic of Korea’s multi-time champions Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors, will take on the head-coach position of those teams from May 2024 to March 2026.

Kim was a  defensive midfielder for the RoK’s national team.

After switching to coaching, he helped Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors win the Korean Championship (K-League) 2021 and the Korean National Cup 2022. He was voted manager of the month twice in 2022; K League 1 manager of the year in 2021; Korean FA Coach of the Year in 2021, and Korean FA Cup Best Manager in 2022.
