General Secretary Lam chaired a working session in Hanoi on Wednesday with the Government Party Committee Standing Board on implementing two Resolutions on agriculture, farmers, rural areas, and on urban planning, construction, management, and sustainable development.

He requested an objective and comprehensive assessment of the situation and results of the Resolutions implementation. He urged for study of challenges arising from the administrative restructuring and organization of the two-tier local government model. The Party leader stressed the need to study global trends in modern urban and rural development to supplement and revise the two resolutions, making them relevant to the nation’s needs.

“It must be clearly recognized that urban development and rural development are two strategic tasks that complement and support each other and cannot be separated. Urban and rural issues are not only economic and social issues but also political, cultural and people's welfare issues.”

The General Secretary called for the engagement of experts and scientists and referring to international experiences to advise on development orientation of urban and rural areas in Vietnam to meet the requirements of the new era.
