A workshop on regional cooperation in water resource security opens in Ho Chi Minh City

(VOVworld)- A workshop on regional cooperation in water resource security opened in Ho Chi Minh City on Wednesday/April 2nd as part of the 2nd summit of the Mekong River Commission. Delegates at the workshop urged countries in the Mekong River region to make stronger commitments to information sharing, and identifying priorities and strategies for climate change adaptation. Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Environment Nguyen Thai Lai said:“For my own country, Vietnam, with a fast growing population and economy, a change in water management, energy and food security is vital to us. So mentioning this challenge is obvious to satisfy fast growing energy needs. Our cooperation with neighboring countries is important. An international conference like this, with the participation of professionals and basic leaders from all over the world is very important to us. We look forward to learning your recommendations”.

In Vietnam, the Vietnamese government has paid special attention to strategies on water resource management, energy and food issues.
