Zelensky calls for air truce
(VOVWORLD) - Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Sunday called for a ceasefire in the skies after Russia launched its latest aerial attack on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure.
He said on Telegram that an aerial ceasefire is fully achievable and could pave the way for a genuine diplomatic solution. Zelensky also emphasized the need to continue strengthening defenses and accelerating the implementation of defense agreements, particularly in the area of air defense.
Russian media outlets assessed Zelensky’s remarks as a possible shift in Kyiv’s policy, amid Moscow’s large-scale attacks on Ukraine’s military-industrial facilities, as well as its gas and energy infrastructure.
Senior Russian officials said that all designated targets had been struck, which could pose significant challenges for Ukraine as cold weather sets in.
