(VOVworld) -  “Mechanical doctor” is a nickname colleagues have given to mechanic Nguyen Duc Cuong at the Thong Nhat Electro-mechanics Company. Cuong has repaired many machines, saving the company a lot of money. He has also improved machines to produce higher quality products.

What can be done to improve productivity, produce higher quality products, reduce cost, and ensure a stable income for workers? These questions concern not just the leaders of the Thong Nhat Electro-mechanics Company but also the workers themselves, including Nguyen Duc Cuong. Drawing on the experience of his senior colleagues and the technical publications of Vietnam and other countries, Cuong has been able to improve the hydraulic system of the press machine 135T and the oil pump system of the plastic press machine 350. His innovations have increased the machines’ productivity 15% to 20%. Nguyen Duc Cuong says: "The hydraulic and oil pump systems were old and incompatible with other machines. In order to match them with the automated production line, we needed to upgrade them for the electric fan production machinery. The machines operate around the clock, which requires the lubrication system to function well, otherwise the production line is affected."

The Company’s leaders have confidence in Cuong and have assigned him the important tasks of maintaining the machines and training the younger engineers. Pham Phu Cuong is a fellow worker. "I’m in charge of lubricants and oil. Cuong tells me his experiences with each type of machine, which is very useful to me. He has taught younger workers to repair high-tech devices. He is a role model for all of us."

Nguyen Manh Hung, Chairman of the Company’s Trade Union, says the Company has 500 machines, including the most advanced equipment in Southeast Asia and very old equipment which needs regular maintenance. "Cuong is working in the maintenance, repair, and customized devices section. He is a senior mechanic, who always gets involved in diagnosing and repairing breakdowns. In good labor and innovation movements, Cuong regularly get certificates from the Company, Ha Noi’s Federation of Labor, and Hanoi’s Department of Industry and Trade." Hung said.

With his careful and serious work attitude, Cuong has won his colleagues’ respect and love. On May 17, Cuong received the prestigious Nguyen Duc Canh award for the second time for his innovations.
