Journalist Mai Kieu Tuyet has worked for the National VOV Traffic Channel since the beginning of 2009. In those 15 years she has taken on various roles, from field reporter to radio host to commentator on traffic and urban affairs, as well as managerial positions. In every role, she has made an impact, delivering journalistic work that resonates with the public. Here are some listeners’ comments:
"I'm a driver and I often listen to the VOV Traffic Channel. My favorite is the 'Rush Hour' program because it delivers fast, useful updates while I’m on the road. I’m impressed by host Kieu Tuyet. She has a great voice and a clear, coherent delivery.”
"I often read or listen to Kieu Tuyet in segments like ‘Public Life’, ‘Pedestrians in the City’, and ‘Today’s Stories’ on the vovgiaothong.vn website. I really appreciate her unique perspectives on everyday life. There are topics I wouldn’t usually think about, but through her writing, I’ve gained a deeper understanding of the world around me."
Tuyet said whenever she hosts or writes a program, she always asks herself: How will this impact the listeners? What value can it offer them—both now and in the long term? “Whether I'm writing, producing, or hosting, I continuously keep the audience’s needs and mindset in mind. This work constantly challenges me to stay in tune with public expectations. It’s a dynamic environment that encourages creativity and open thinking."
Tuyet has achieved success across a wide spectrum. She and her colleagues at the National VOV Traffic Channel have earned numerous journalism awards over the years. These include the Best Radio Host Award at the 2021 Voice of Vietnam Awards, a Consolation Prize in the 2024 Writing Contest on Environmental Protection in Hanoi, Third Prize at the 2nd National Press Awards “For the People’s Health” in 2024, and First Prize at the National Press Awards 2024 for their series "Curbing Waste in Transportation: Where to Begin?"
"Our top priority is to use our reporting as a tool to influence and drive policy changes, aiming to reduce traffic-related waste that continues to hinder the socio-economic development of the city and Vietnam. This is not just a professional goal, but a responsibility life places on journalists—a call to action that we’re duty-bound to answer," said Tuyet.
Reporter Nguyen Lien, another member of the award-winning team, said, "Mai Kieu Tuyet is a determined person with deep expertise and sharp reasoning skill. At the same time, she’s very warm-hearted, approachable, and empathetic with her colleagues."
Tuyet says that, for her, the greatest fulfillment in journalism comes from creating stories that capture real life, give voice to people's hopes and concerns, and pave the way to positive change for the community.
