(VOVWORLD) -Vietnamese people go the pagodas on the first days of the New Year to pray for good luck, peace, and happiness.

In Hue, Tu Dam, Thien Minh, Tu Hieu, and Bao Quoc pagodas are packed with pilgrims. Nguyen Van Toan, a Buddhist follower in Hue city told VOV: “Visiting the pagoda, I find peace of mind endowed by Buddha. I pray for luck, health, and peace for my family.”

In Truong Sa (Spratly) archipelago, Khanh Hoa province, islanders go to pagodas and offer simple food like fruits and biscuits to pray for favorable weather, a peaceful life, and prosperity.

Ho Chi Minh City residents go sightseeing on the first days of the New Year as the streets are less busy and cleaner. Many flee to the spring flower festival in Tao Dan park, feed the pigeons, and contemplate the nature. Nguyen Dinh Dung has his New Year wishes: “This year the Tet atmosphere is joyful and warm. I wish that my family members will have good health, good work progress, and higher income.”
