World Radio Day 2014 celebrated

(VOVworld) – World Radio Day is celebrated on Thursday to honor radio as a medium and encourages access to information and the freedom of expression as a means to boost equality on the airwaves. Themed “Gender Equality and Women’s Empowerment”, this year’s activities  will promote gender equality by heightening the awareness of journalists and managers of legislation concerning gender and radio and improving radio production skills for youngsters focusing on women working as producers, RJs, and reporters.

The 2014 World Radio exhibition was held in Paris on Thursday where a number of issues concerning multimedia radio were debated. All participants were confident in the future and power of radio.

Nicolas Leroux representing the Winmedia Support Group said: "Radio nowadays has been digitized. Radio features not only sounds of voices but also videos, images, live broadcasts, and websites to make it more attractive. All means of media should be integrated in radio that embraces huge potential for radio’s further development."

UNESCO's Director General Irina Bokova reiterated radio’ huge influence as it can carry any message to any place at any time for the benefit of all. The point is how to develop radio and other means of media as a whole with audiences always at the centre.    

radiovietnam.vn, VOV’s effective information channel celebrated its one year founding anniversary on February 13. Over the past year, radiovietnam.vn has improved its contents in term of documents, photos, and audio to become the biggest audio achieve in Vietnam.
