The map will be created by local artisan and the rice will be dyed with 34 colors representing Vietnam's 34 provinces and cities, organizers said.

The Southern Folk Cakes Festival 2026 will run from April 26 to May 1 at Binh Thuy Ward Square and nearby areas, featuring up to 250 booths. The local Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism and the Mekong Delta Professional Chefs Association have called for sponsors to help make the 700kg sticky rice map, which will be displayed at Hung Kings Temple.

Can Tho People's Committee Vice Chairwoman, Nguyen Thi Ngoc Diep, said, "We must innovate and strengthen outreach across multiple channels, both mainstream and social media platforms. We will work with businesses to promote Can Tho's image and attract tourists."
