Tien Yen is at the crossroads between Lang Son province, Ha Long city, Mong Cai border gate, and Van Don International Airport. In addition to many advantages for ecotourism development, Tien Yen boasts a huge potential for cultural and historical tourism.

The Culture and Sports Week featured a folk and music festival, modern dance and sports dance performances, ethnic sports competitions, a food festival, a trade fair, a boat race, and activities along Tien Yen walking street.

"The event drew 1,500 performers and athletes from Quang Ninh province and Lang Son city. The rich and diverse ethnic culture of Vietnam’s northeastern region was spotlighted and promoted," said Truong Cong Ngan, Chairman of Tien Yen district’s People’s Committee.

The food festival featured the chicken of Tien Yen, which has been listed among the 50 best Vietnamese dishes in the national record book.

"I try to visit the walking street at least once a week although I live far from it. The street is always crowded and I’m happy to see so many people, young and old, having fun at the festival. More activities like this should be held to promote our tradition and culture," Le Duong Vi, a member of the Nung ethnic group, told VOV.

Tien Yen has been called the second Hoi An of Vietnam because of its many French- and Chinese-style architectural structures built in the early 1900s. The district has also preserved some old houses built in the traditional Vietnamese style, like the Linh Quan pagoda, which was built 150 years ago.
