2025 Red Spring Festival celebrates compassion through blood donation

(VOVWORLD) - The 2025 Red Spring Festival is taking place across many localities. It is an annual voluntary blood donation event, aiming to address the critical blood shortage often seen before, during, and immediately after the Lunar New Year, while also promoting the spirit of compassion and community care.

The Vietnamese Students’ Association in Can Tho city organized the 2025 Red Spring Festival on Sunday, drawing 410 donors, including students and members of the Southwest Mobile Police Regiment. 

Voluntary blood donation, a life-saving act, not only aids patients in need but also fosters compassion and solidarity, enriching the Vietnamese tradition of mutual support.

Mr. Phuong Tan Dat, Director of the Student Support Center in Can Tho City, said: "While the total number of blood units collected may vary, we see a rising number of donors which shows that the blood donation movement is spreading and enthusiasm is inspires in the community."

In Dak Lak province, the Steering Committee for Voluntary Blood Donation, in collaboration with Tay Nguyen University, launched the "Red Spring Festival" and an organ and tissue donation registration. More than 600 donors participated, resulting in 460 blood units collected while 67 people pledged to donate their organs and tissues.

Hoang Bao Ngoc, a first-year student at Dong A University, said: "By donating blood and registering as an organ donor, I hope to convey a message that life can be improved when people in need are helped. I want to inspire others to live meaningfully and contribute to society."

In Bac Giang province, the "Red Spring Festival" was held last week collecting more than 2,200 units of blood. At least 200 individuals with rare blood types registered as reserve donors, ensuring blood availability during the Lunar New Year holiday.
