Since the 13th National Party Congress in 2021, Vietnam's foreign affairs have gained many important results among the country's overall achievements. Vietnam's external relations are constantly expanding bilaterally and multilaterally.

Independence and self-reliance in diplomacy in the new era

Promoting diplomatic achievements and adhering to the foreign policy of the 13th National Party Congress, Vietnam continues to prioritize foreign policy and mobilize the strength of the era to protect the homeland early and from afar and successfully implement national renewal.

At an international press conference after being elected Party General Secretary, Mr. To Lam said that Vietnam will continue to promote its foreign affairs achievements and is determined to maintain its independence, self-reliance, and self-resilience in foreign affairs.

“The interests of the nation must always come first and be protected and respected. Vietnam will continue to promote relations with neighboring countries, world powers, comprehensive strategic partners, traditional friends, and other important partners, and steadily consolidate political trust and stable foreign affairs to create the most favorable conditions for national development,” Party General Secretary and President To Lam said.

In the context of global complexities, Vietnam's multilateral diplomacy will continue to proactively and flexibly participate in shaping the rules of the game and the principles of multilateral institutions. Vietnam will continue to promote international cooperation to solve regional and global challenges in a spirit of peace, friendship, humanity, and heart-to-heart diplomacy, using reason, justice and righteousness to persuade people.

General Secretary and President To Lam said that Vietnam will increase its contributions to maintaining regional and global peace and stability, elevate multilateral diplomacy, and promote its role as an active and responsible member of the international community.

“Vietnam will continue to effectively implement new-era diplomacy based on the Vietnamese people’s characteristics of ‘being steadfast in objectives and flexible in actions,’ being filial, and ‘wielding justice to defeat savagery.’ These traditional Vietnamese values must be promoted,” he noted.

Maintaining national stature and strength

Recently Vietnam's external activities have been expanded and have achieved many important results, especially in consolidating stable relationship frameworks and creating drivers to deepen Vietnam’s cooperative relations with other counties and resolve major foreign affairs issues.

Relations with neighboring countries have been strengthened and political trust has been enhanced. Relations with major countries and important partners continue to be promoted.

Vietnam’s relations with socialist countries and the ruling parties and major political parties of other countries have been maintained and strengthened.

Through external activities of the Party and State, Vietnam has informed political parties and foreign partners of its situation and the orientations of the Communist Party of Vietnam, such as Vietnam's foreign policy, views, and stance on global and regional issues.

Information on the external economy, national territory, seas, islands, the East Sea, religion, democracy, and human rights have been disseminated on the Party’s external communication channels and people-to-people diplomacy channels.

Vietnam's consistency on the foreign policy mentioned in the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress is the basis for external work that contributes to national development goals.
