Bac Ninh, the hardest-hit province in the 4th wave of the pandemic, has strictly followed the Ministry of Health’s health recommendations and has increased vaccinations for workers in industrial parks and teachers. So far, 60,000 workers have received their first injection.

Doctor Duong Danh Hung, Head of Vaccine Injection Team No.4, said, “We will work with companies to inject 3,000 workers a day in industrial parks. We have to schedule the injection to avoid overcrowding.”

Bac Ninh province has reserved 23,000 vaccine doses to inject its school employees and teachers.

Quang Ninh province has closely monitored people arriving from epidemic-hit areas and speeded up its vaccination program. It will administer the AstraZeneca vaccine to about 17,500 people, including 12,300 doses to people in priority groups and 1,120 doses to border soldiers.

Businesses have adjusted their budgets to buy COVID-19 vaccines for their workers. Do Thi Thuy Huong of the Vietnam Electronics Association and Industries Association said, “Like other associations and businesses, we are ready to vaccinate our employees at our own expense. The Vietnam Electronics Association and the Industries Association have registered with the government to buy 1 million doses in July and August. We intended to keep track with our production schedule on track to avoid any supply interruption in line with the government’s strategy.”

In order to achieve herd immunity, Vietnam needs about 170 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines to vaccinate 75 million people. The total cost will be more than 1 billion USD. Donations from organizations and individuals to the national COVID-19 Vaccine Fund will help Vietnam soon achieve its target.
