Da Nang city contains epidemic to resume normal life

(VOVWORLD) - Da Nang city has gone 20 days with no new COVID-19 infections in the community. The city’s COVID-19 Prevention and Control Steering Committee has allowed hotels, restaurants, and food shops to return to normal operation since September 11th. Events of less than 30 people are allowed.

Nguyen Thi Bich Quyen, the owner a a coffee shop in Tieu La ward, Hai Chau precinct, said everyone is happy the city has loosened social distancing regulations now that the second wave of COVID-19 is under control.

“Da Nang is allowing businesses to operate normally. I’ll arrange for customers to sit far from each other, wash their hands, and wear masks to ensure their safety. I’m very happy. I hope the pandemic will remain under control,” Quyen said.

Hotels and restaurants in Da Nang had to close down to prevent the spread of the coronavirus and thousands of workers were temporarily unemployed. Now they can return to work.

Tran Thu Phuong came to Da Nang from Phu Yen province: “It was a hard time for me because I had no income. I received support from the local administration and social organizations. I’m very happy to return to work and earn money gain.”

Le Trung Chinh, Vice Chairman of the Da Nang municipal People’s Committee, said: “The city has allowed sport centers and athletic training centers to reopen if they maintain preventive measures. Food shops must ensure a distance of 1 meter between customers. All services must observe health safety rules.”

On Monday secondary and high school students returned to school after a week studying at home. The police have closed health checkpoints at the city gates but local police are closely watching to detect people arriving from epicenters.
