(VOVWORLD) - Ho Chi Minh City has tasked its Union of Businesses Associations with promoting green growth and digital transformation. The city will also set up an advisory center to help businesses accelerate their digital transformation.
Last year, many businesses in Ho Chi Minh City exerted themselves to accelerate green transformation, invest in innovative technology, apply green criteria to their production and business in line with environmental regulations. 90 businesses have met the criteria called “Green Enterprises”. This year, the city will continue to help businesses implement their digital transformation and green growth.
Vo Van Hoan, Vice Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee, said that without focusing on green growth and digital transformation, businesses will face many difficulties.
Mr. Hoan said: “The city will establish a center for consulting and supporting digital transformation. The center will advise people and the business community. I really want the Union of Business Associations to provide more information about digital transformation and green growth. Businesses should have reasonable solutions available to participate in green growth and meet the environmental and social corporate governance criteria.”
On January 17, at a conference to review the results of environmental tasks for 2023 and to set out new tasks for 2024, Mr. Hoan said the city will develop a set of criteria to measure emissions of businesses, industries, and households. With this quantification, businesses will find ways to reduce their emissions while maintaining economic growth and ensuring rich production and robust business.
The city has asked the Department of Information and Communication to review its digital transformation program and organize meetings with its business partners. The goal will be to listen, share, and make suggestions to complete the digital transformation project for each industry and field, and then research the products that can meet the requirements. Ho Chi Minh City has strengthened its connections with foreign partners, including US government agencies and businesses.
The HCMC Union of Business Associations has asked the local administration to provide capital as well as legal, and technological support for businesses registering for assistance with green transformation. The goal is to help them connect with funding sources to reduce greenhouse emissions, improve competitiveness, and participate in the global supply chain.
